Dental Veneers — The Ultimate Cover-Up

Drinking coffee and red wine, eating acidic foods, and smoking — all of these things can discolor your teeth and make you less apt to smile freely. The same goes for that childhood accident when you chipped your front tooth. Or you might not be happy about inheriting a parent’s less-than-snow-white natural tooth hue.

There’s actually a way to start over, even if you’ve been dealing with these issues for years. Veneers are a great option for making your smile healthier-looking, more uniform, and best of all, sparkly white.

Dr. Nazila Satvat and the Brightleaf Dental team are highly skilled and experienced in placing veneers, very thin individual coatings that are applied to your teeth to hide all kinds of flaws that might prevent you from smiling big in photos or letting out a hearty laugh.

Veneers Conceal a Multitude of imperfections

When you share your goals about how you’d like your smile to look with Dr. Satvat, she really listens. She recommends the veneer solution if your teeth are:

Another common problem veneers can resolve is concealing gaps between your teeth.

If you have one or more of these problems, your self-esteem can be deeply affected, causing you to dread showing your teeth. At Brightleaf Dental, Dr. Satvat’s primary goals are ensuring that your teeth are healthy and that you feel proud of how they look.

What are veneers made from?

The paper-thin coatings are most commonly porcelain or resin, but we favor porcelain. Its durability makes veneers last for a decade or more if cared for properly, and they look more natural.

How many appointments do I need if I choose veneers?

Just two — one where Dr. Satvat cleans and preps the front surfaces of your teeth by sanding them gently to remove some of the enamel. This ensures that the veneers adhere well to your teeth. She then takes an impression of your teeth so your veneers can be precisely customized. The second appointment is when she actually places them.

In between your first and second appointment, you receive temporary veneers to protect your teeth until the permanent ones can be put on.

When it comes time for Dr. Satvat to apply your veneers, she puts a powerful adhesive on your teeth so the veneers are very secure after they’re placed. After she applies them, she polishes them thoroughly and refines their fit so you look smashing.

Practice proper veneer aftercare

Since one of the biggest advantages of veneers is that they don’t need to be replaced often, how you care for them has a great impact on their lifespan:

If you practice these good habits, there’s no reason your veneers can’t last 10-15 years or beyond.
