Okay, sometimes dental news is just too cool not to share.

Scientists at Georgia Tech recently developed the Tongue Drive System, a  wireless device which allows users to wear a less conspicuous dental retainer embedded with sensors, thus enabling people with high-level spinal cord injuries to operate a computer and maneuver an electrically powered wheelchair on their own.

The FDA has issued a warning about the battery-powered Arm & Hammer Spinbrush—or the Crest Spinbrush, as it was called before 2009. On more than one occasion, the battery-powered toothbrush, has been known to break, causing pieces of the toothbrush to injure eyes, and teeth, and even choking.

Sleep Apnea Relief Site

Brightleaf Cosmetic and Holistic Dentistry is proud to announce that we just launched a new site for people suffering from Sleep Apnea. Sleep apnea is a sleeping disorder that is distinguished by abnormal breathing. It can include long pauses or very short breaths while sleeping. The breathing pauses can last anywhere from seconds to minutes often disrupting your sleep. This chronic condition can, at a minimum, cause you to move in and out of deep sleep and is often a reason for daytime drowsiness.

Dr. Ana Brightleaf has earned the designation of Fellow from LVI Global (LVI). The LVI Fellow designation recognizes that a dentist has completed a series of studies on the clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide comprehensive aesthetic treatment for the dental patient as taught in LVI’s Core Series.

Dental Lifeline

Donated Dental Services, An organization of 15,000 volunteer dentists is changing its name to better reflect what we do for the underprivileged with dental needs. The new name is Dental Lifeline Network. There are also 3,000 laboratories that donate services.
